Dining in Maui

We love food but then who doesn't? When you come to Maui you're going to need to know where to eat so you don't waste both time and money on a bad meal. That's why we're providing you a list of our favorites. We'll list our dining favorites by meal (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) as the restaurants change based on the meal you're eating.

Of course another great option when staying at the
Noelani Condo Resort is to shop for groceries at Costco near the airport and prepare and eat many of your meals in the condo. You'll save a ton of money and the view from your private lanai is as good or better than most restaurants. If you don't want to shop at Costco then you can shop at Safeway in Lahaina or Star Market in Honokawai.
Get Lost in Maui’s Top 5 Restaurants (Dinner)

  1. Sansei Seafood and Sushi Bar (Kapalua and Kihei)
This is by far one of our favorite spots to eat dinner in all of Maui. We love to sit at the sushi bar and watch the sushi chefs work their magic. There are also plenty of tables if you prefer or have a group larger than two. Reservations are recommended or expect to wait 45 minutes or more. Located in both Kapalua and Kihei but we have only eaten at the one in Kapalua. The sushi here is some of the freshest and best tasting we have ever experienced (even better than any I've eaten in Tokyo). Make sure you try the Rainbow Roll and the “Granny Smith” Apple Tart for dessert.

  2. Roy's Kahana Bar & Grill (Kahana)
Wow, what a great meal although somewhat pricy in the $30-$35 per entrée range. The menu changes nightly but some items are regulars and ranges from fish to pastas to melt in your mouth steak. The Grilled 8 oz Filet Mignon is incredible. Make sure to ask for the signature Melting Hot Dark chocolate Soufflé for dessert. This is one of the best desserts I have ever eaten. In the Kahana Gateway on Hwy 30. Reservations are recommended.

  3. Mama's Fish House (North of Paia)
What more can we say about Mama's than has already been written by so many others other than spectacular. The ambiance is simply the best on all of Maui but Mama's fits in at #3 on our list for two reasons. One reason is the price, at $45 to $65 per plate it's darn expensive. When the final bill comes expect to pay over $100 per person after you add in drinks and dessert. The second reason Mama's is only ranked #3 is that it is so hard to get a table. Yes you will need reservations but if you're only on Maui for a week or less then good luck getting a table unless you make reservations prior to your arrival which you can do online at Mama's website. The food is spectacular and the menu changes daily, but the ambiance is even better. The setting is right on a palm tree lined beach. On Hwy 36, Hana Hwy, at mile marker 8, 1.5 miles north of Paia

  4. Cheeseburger in Paradise (Lahaina)
Cheeseburger in Paradise is a favorite of many including Get Lost in Maui. Located in the heart of Lahaina on Front St and right on the water, this place is just plain old fun. Ok, so you may get a better burger elsewhere but you won't have a better time anywhere. The walls and ceiling are loaded with vanity license plates from all over the country, and you'll enjoy trying to figure those out. The wait staff is loads of fun too as they're dressed in grass skirts. Make sure you get a table on the second floor for better air flow. It also just seems to be more fun up there too. Most nights have live music up there as well. The wait can be long even as long as an hour or more on busy nights but hey, you can enjoy yourself by wondering up and down Front St. and window shop while you wait. The Teriyaki Burger is my fav and the bowl of french fries are a must and are enough for 2. Plan to spend $10-$15 for dinner. When we're on Maui we ALWAYS stop at Cheeseburger in Paradise.

  5. Milagros (Pa'ia)
We've only eaten here twice but that was enough to move Milagros into our top 5. The food is spectacular and the presentations is just as good! Here are some must haves - Ahi Taquitos ($9), Pork Burrito ($14), Ono Enchilada ($18). Drinks are only $3 during Happy Hour and the tequila and margaritas are legendary or so we've been told. Make sure you request a table outside as it gets really hot inside. Once you've ordered don't expect to get your meal anytime soon so order an appetizer (Ahi Taquitos) and drinks and just enjoy the experience. Also expect to wait for a table though as this is a fairly small place but well worth the wait. On the corner of Hana Hwy (Hwy 36) and Baldwin Ave in downtown Paia.

Get Lost in Maui’s Top 5 Restaurants (Breakfast)

  1. Sea House at Napili Kai - The Sea House is an all-around very good restaurant for any meal although it makes our Best Of list at #1 for breakfast. The food here is excellent and more than just the standard eggs and bacon or loco moco. Dinner has nightly specials including Alaskan King Crab Legs, Surf 'n Turf, Lobster Tail and Prime Rib, all of which are excellent. On our most recent trip I ordered the Berry Cakes with the Kahuna Whipped Cream ($2 extra) and it was fantastic. The Applewood Smoked Bacon is some of the best I've eaten and I always order it even if its a side order for an extra $3.50. Now as good as the food is the view is even better. Located overlooking the beach at Napili Bay, try and get a window seat. $6 - $12 for breakfast, $8 - $16 for lunch, and $25 - $42 for dinner. Dinner reservations recommended but not required. 5900 Lwr. Honoapiilani Rd., 808-669-1500

  2. The Plantation House (Kapalua) - Again, another restaurant that is great for any meal but makes our cut on the breakfast list. The relaxed setting of an old style plantation overlooking the Kapalua golf course make this an outstanding location. The breakfast menu features several different benedict's but I alway love the Molokai sweet bread french toast with strawberries. Breakfast $8 - $12, Lunch $10 - $18, Dinner $27 - $42.

  3. Kihei Cafe (Kihei) - We enjoy stopping at the Kihei Cafe when we go to a South Maui beach. This is just a fun place. Yea the tables are old and the food can be really good or so so but the portions are large. We keep coming back time and time again so that tells you something. We really enjoy the Papaya Delight and a pastry, both are fantastic and you can order it to go and then eat it on the beach. This is a hang loose style cafe where you order inside first and then find a table outside, don't do it in reverse order though. Make sure you bring cash as they don't accept plastic.

  4. Castaways (Kaanapali)
  5. Pioneer Inn (Lahaina)
